A Letter from Our President

Thursday Musical's annual meeting for May 14th is postponed.

I hope you are well. I have missed seeing you the last few months! Thursday Musical's season came to an abrupt stop on March 14th when the MacPhail Center for Music announced that it was closing its doors due to the pandemic. All of our 8 events in March, April and May at MacPhail were cancelled. This is still the situation today. We are still in a state of disequilibrium with all the changes we have experienced and which will continue on for a while. MacPhail will contact us again around June 7th regarding their situation.

According to a newsletter for non-profits, Don Kramer's "NonProfit Issues", if there is a national emergency, the law waives the requirement for annual meetings until things settle down to make them possible. Our by-laws are written correctly to address this situation.  Thus, we are moving the annual meeting until September or whenever it becomes feasible. Thursday Musical will give you several weeks notice before it occurs. The current officers thus stay in their positions until a new slate is elected (of those needing replacement) at the next annual meeting. The new member auditions originally set for March 21st, also will be rescheduled. We'll have to see how things go.

We will be holding some small group brain-storming sessions using Zoom on-line to discuss possibilities and options for going forward, perhaps moving some of our activities on-line for the next season.  If you wish to participate, please contact Tara@thursdaymusical.org to register for the event.

Thursday Musical will be sending out a year-end Annual Report in June reviewing our 2019-20 fiscal year. We will keep you aware of our plans for next season as they develop. Please stay safe and take care of yourselves. You are special. Keep making and enjoying beautiful music!
