For everyone’s safety, Thursday Musical requires all audience members to wear a non-cloth mask such as a N95, KN95, KF94, or surgical mask. If needed, surgical-type masks will be available. All audience members will also need to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, or proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of the performance.
Emma Davis is a 22-year-old soprano from Des Moines, IA. She is currently a senior at the University of Northwestern – St. Paul (UNW) as a triple major studying Vocal Performance, Music Composition, and Media Production. She has been awarded prizes at various competitions and festivals including third place in the 2022 Fourth Year Upper College Treble division of NATS, and first place in Thursday Musical’s 2021 Vocal College Division. Most recently, Emma won first place in UNW’s Concerto-Aria competition where she will have the opportunity to perform live with the UNW Orchestra. She has also advanced to the second round of the CS Music Vocal Competition in the College Classical Singer Division where she will compete live in Chicago in May. Her future goals are to pursue a master’s and doctoral degree in Vocal Performance and eventually obtain a professorial position at a school in the United States.
Salam Murtada is a native of Amman, Jordan. He was a semi-finalist in the Fourth Van Cliburn International Competition for Outstanding Amateurs in 2004, a semi-finalist in the Washington International Piano Artist Competition in 2006, a winner in the Masters Concerto and Aria Competition (MCAC) in 2019 and a prize winner in the Greensboro Music Academy National Piano Competition in 2000. He has been featured on the WDAV 89.9 FM (Charlotte, NC), several newspapers in North Carolina, the Dallas Morning News, Fort Worth Star-Tribune, the London Times, HDTV and BBC Radio. He premiered his original compositions in the US, Australia, Ukraine and Jordan. His instructors include John Ruggero in Raleigh NC, Christine Kefferstan of West Virginia University at Morgantown, Lita Guerra of University of Texas at Austin, and Samia Ghannoum in Amman, Jordan. He has also coached with Walter Hautzig and Vanessa Cornett-Murtada. Salam is a civil and environmental professional engineer currently working for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
Suzanne Greer currently serves on the faculty of the MacPhail Center for Music where she teaches both Suzuki and traditional piano lessons. She received performance degrees from St. Olaf College and the University of Minnesota as well as the certificate in piano pedagogy from the University of St. Thomas. She was awarded the Robert Schmitt Professional Development Grant from the Minnesota Music Teachers Association (MMTA) and in 2017, was awarded a Top Music Teacher Award by Steinway and Sons. She has served as President of MMTA, the Minneapolis Music Teachers Form and the Suzuki Piano Teachers Guild. In addition, she served as Certification Commissioner for the Music Teachers National Association from 2018 – 2020. She has served Thursday Musical as Vice President of the Student Section and Community Concert Chair.
