Paul K. Humiston began his musical education in the second grade when he joined the St. Luke’s Boys Choir in Kalamazoo, MI, which was then affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music. He sang soprano in the choir until the eighth grade, which is also when he started on the bassoon after studying clarinet and oboe. Through high school he studied bassoon with William Allgood at Western Michigan University, and then continued with Homer Pence at Ball State University while pursuing his degree in architecture. Paul has been active as a performer on the Thursday Musical Artist Series and with various Twin Cities orchestras including the Mississippi Valley Orchestra, where he was twice a featured soloist, Symphony of the Lakes, and Allegro Sinfonia. Since 2009 he has served as principal bassoonist of the Wayzata Symphony Orchestra.

Elliot Wilcox is a performing artist for Thursday Musical (TM) and has performed as a piano soloist on many TM Artist Series programs. Currently, he is serving as President of Thursday Musical. Elliot recently retired from full-time teaching at Century College in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, where he taught music theory and directed the Century Chamber Orchestra. Elliot received his Master of Arts in Piano Performance from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where he also studied conducting, and his Masters of Arts in Music Theory from the University of Minnesota. Prior to teaching at Century, Elliot taught studio piano at Anoka Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, and worked as a professional piano technician.

Cellist Nickolai Kolarov graduated from the Bulgarian State Academy of Music and received his Master’s degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City where he studied with Nina Gordon. Kolarov earned his Doctoral degree from the University of Minnesota where he studied with Tanya Remenikova. He also studied with Igor Gavrish from the Moscow Conservatory of Music. Since his arrival in the United States he has performed with distinguished musicians in both classical and contemporary repertoire throughout the country. Kolarov is a prizewinner from the Bulgarian National Competition at Provadia. He has received numerous grants from the Minnesota Metropolitan Regional Arts Council and American Composers Forum, as well the Fine Arts and Humanities Grant from St. Thomas University where he taught cello until 2006.
