Performer Information

Elizabeth Ericksen is a Senior Lecturer in Music at Carleton College and is on the faculty at MacPhail Center for Music. She teaches violin and viola and coaches chamber music. A founding member of the Sartory String Quartet, she is currently in her fourteenth year with Ensemble l’Autumno. In the summer, she has been a coach for the Sartory String Quartet Institute at MacPhail and for GTCYS Summer Orchestra.  Elizabeth is a past President of the board of MNSOTA, the Minnesota chapter of the American String Teacher’s Association. Her mentors include Paul Rolland, Mary West, and Joseph Gingold.

After more than 30 years teaching at MacPhail Center and performing with the Minnesota Sinfonia, cellist Faith Farr now teaches exclusively in her home studio and performs with Ensemble l’Autumno and as a free-lancer. In addition, she self-publishes Foundations for Music Reading, a string-based theory curriculum for violin, viola and cello. With Brian Wicklund, she co-authored The American Fiddle Method for Cello, published by Mel Bay. As long-time editor of MNSOTA’s String Notes magazine, she has won seven consecutive national ASTA awards for Best State Newsletter.

Pianist Mary Jo Gothmann enjoys a varied career as a chamber musician, soloist, opera coach and organist. Her recent chamber music engagements have included performances with the Chamber Music Society of Minnesota, Hill House Players, Bakken Trio, Music at Trinity, Colonial Chamber Music Series, Lakes Area Music Festival, and Joya.   Mary Jo performs frequently with the Minnesota Orchestra and has performed with EOS Orchestra in New York City, and as a piano soloist with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra and the St. Paul Civic Orchestra.  She has worked for the Metropolitan Opera, Santa Fe Opera, and Minnesota Opera and has performed recitals with singers from the Metropolitan Opera as well as with instrumentalists from many of the country's major symphony orchestras. Mary Jo is a graduate of the Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artist Program, University of Minnesota, New England Conservatory and St. Olaf College.  Mary Jo has been the principal organist at Zion Lutheran Church since moving to Shoreview, Minnesota in 2005.
