Performer Information
Paul Schulz, bass clarinet
Paul Schulz was graduated summa cum laude with a music performance degree in clarinet and horn from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and received his Master of Music degree in horn performance from Arizona State University. He joined the Minnesota Sinfonia as principal clarinet in 2011 and has been a member of the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra since 1991 (bass clarinet 1991-1999, co-principal 1999-2005, principal 2005-present) and served as its board president for three years. He has performed with many local professional and amateur ensembles, including the Minnesota Orchestra, Minnesota Opera, Allegro Sinfonia Symphony Orchestra and Grand Symphonic Winds. He is the former principal clarinetist of the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra and former bass clarinetist of the Greensboro (NC) Symphony Orchestra. An adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas, he teaches private bass and contrabass clarinet students. He works full-time as an IT professional and enjoys music composition, games of chance, and playing with his Shih Tzu.
Mary Goetz, piano
Mary Goetz performs frequently around the Twin Cities as a soloist as well as in collaboration with other Twin Cities artists, and teaches piano at the K&S Conservatory in Woodbury and at her home studio in St. Paul. She is a performing member of Thursday Musical, serves as Program Director for MMTA’s Music Bridges program, and is the South Metro Minneapolis Chair for the National Guild of Piano Teachers. She received performance degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she was a student of Howard Karp, and the New England Conservatory of Music, where she studied piano with Patricia Zander and collaborative piano with Margo Garrett. When she is not making or teaching music, Mary enjoys camping, biking and knitting, and also volunteers as a Medicare counselor on the Senior LinkAge Line.

Seokho Park, tenor and Jiwon Lee, piano
Thursday Musical Debut
Pianist Jiwon Lee has extensive experience as a soloist and collaborative. Ms. Lee's accomplishments include winning the International Piano Workshop competition in Varna, Bulgaria, with a performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto K. 488 with the Vratz Orchestra and the Varna Philharmonic Orchestra. She was also the first place winner in the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education music competition and received the Bronze prize in the 11th National Music Contest in Seoul, Korea. Ms. Lee earned the Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees in Piano Performance at the Keimyung University in Korea with the honor of being ranked within the top 1% of the students. Ms. Lee also holds the Master of Music degree in Collaborative Piano and Chamber Music from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts, where she studied under Elena Abend and Judit Jaimes. While at UWM, Ms. Lee was a pianist for the Leonard Sorkin International Institute of Chamber Music and held a teaching assistant position. Equally at home in solo and chamber repertoire, Ms. Lee was a participant in the Collaborative Institute Program, Source Song Festival in Minnesota and the 21st Piano Symposium hosted by the Piano Society of Korea. She has performed in master classes with Vladimir Shakin, Joseph Banowetz, and Adam Wodnicki. Ms. Lee's extensive teaching experience includes instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the piano faculty of the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. Based in Milwaukee, Ms. Lee also was a staff pianist with the String Academy of Wisconsin, KUMC as well as Milwaukee Ballet. Currently, Ms. Lee is a Teaching Assistant at the University of Minnesota, pursuing her DMA degree in Collaborative Piano and Coaching under Dr. Timothy Lovelace.
Tenor Seokho Park is from South Korea. He graduated with his Bachelor of Music degree from Korea National University of Arts and Binghamton University (MM Voice). Now, he is attending the University of Minnesota for his Doctor of Musical Arts degree. He made his debut in the US with Tri-Cities Opera as the role of Torquemada, L'heure Espagnole in 2017. His upcoming roles are Alfredo in La Traviata (Act 3) and Rodolfo in La bohème (Act 3) in April 2019. Mr. Park recently performed the role of Lyric Tenor in Postcard from Morocco, and other performances have included Die Zauberflöte (Condensed version), Così fan tutte (Act 1), Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Hoffmann in Act 1 and Septet in Act 2), and Don José in a concert version of Carmen. Mr. Park's performances in Korea included La bohème (Rodolfo) with Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra and Cavalleria Rusticana (Turiddu), La bohème (Rodolfo) with Korea National University of Arts. Mr. Park recently won 2nd place at the regional NATS 2017 competition as well as 1st place at the district NATS 2016 competition. He was awarded a scholarship for academic excellence from Korea National University of Arts as well as a scholarship from Woon-Hyung Lee Foundation for Performing Excellence.
Megan Monahan Wallace and Christopher Wallace, piano duo
Megan Monahan Wallace has been a member of Thursday Musical since 1998. She grew up in Butte Montana, and earned degrees from Eastman under Nelita True, and a D.M.A. from the University of MN under Lydia Artymiw. She has adjudicated and performed in Minnesota, Indiana, Washington, Texas and Montana and presented at the 2012 MMTA state convention. She has performed the five Beethoven concerti with the Mayo Clinic chamber symphony. She met her husband, Dr. Christopher Wallace at Eastman. They reside in St. Louis Park and maintain Wallace Piano and Organ Studios there with their 14 yr. old springer Spaniel, and a Bernese Mountain Dog.
Christopher Wallace, a native of Atlanta GA, received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Eastman School of Music as a student of Dr. Nelita True. He also received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of MN as a student of Lydia Artymiw. Christopher teaches with his wife, Megan, through their private studio, Wallace Piano and Organs Studios, is Music Director/Organist at Our Lady of Grace, Edina MN and is owner of Allen Organs of the Twin Cities, Inc./Allen Organs of Iowa, a Mid-West dealer for Allen Organ Company.
